Shanghai's first standard roof football stadium is about to open! Today, the construction contractor, Shanghai Construction Group 7, learns that Xin Jing'an Sports Center, located on the side of Gongxin Road, Wenshui Road, is currently carrying out cleaning and other finishing work and will be put into use in mid-September.

Xin Jing'an Sports Center covers an area of 61733.8 square meters, covering national fitness, sports performance, community literature and art and other functions. The stadium not only has two basketball courts, two volleyball courts, four tennis courts, 16 table tennis courts, 20 badminton courts and a swimming pool, but also has a roof football field of more than 20,000 square meters.

According to project manager Bo Kaihui, the roof football field is 13 meters high from the ground. It is a standard football field with six runways and 750 stands beside it. In order to facilitate maintenance, the football field is paved with artificial turf. Because of the high requirement of anti-seepage for football field built on the roof, a waterproof layer is added to the roof, and a rainwater filter and storage device is installed under the turf and runway, which can recover rainwater and be used for greening and watering near the venue.

Overlooking from the air, the roof shape of the roof football field is very unique, like a hollow crescent moon. A 15-metre-high protective net was also installed around the roof. Bo said that the semi-circular roof cantilever looks very beautiful, but the size of each component is different, which increases the difficulty of construction and installation.

It is reported that the new Jing'an Sports Center will finish its work at the end of this month and be put into operation in mid-September.
