Located in the south of West Lake District of Hangzhou, Yunqi Town is located in the core area of Zhongjiang National Tourism Resort in Hangzhou. It is one of the first ten small towns with demonstration characteristics established in Zhejiang Province. The town has a planned area of 3.5 square kilometres. In 2016, 200,000 square metres of industrial space have been put into use, and 1 million square metres will be gradually built in three years.

The goal of West Lake District is to form a complete cloud computing industry chain through 3-5 years of development, gathering thousands of cloud-related enterprises there, covering cloud computing applications, such as APP development, games, Internet finance, mobile Internet, data mining and other fields, to achieve output value of 10 billion yuan and tax revenue of more than 500 million yuan.

In addition, in the "Yunqi Town", the West Lake District also plans to build a history museum of IT information industry with an area of about 5000 square meters to show the development process of Internet IT industry featuring cloud computing. In cooperation with Aliyun Company, an Aliyun Institute of Technology (Yunqi College) will be set up in the park to provide cloud computing technology training and learning exchanges for enterprises in the park.
